An impactful Anti-Human Trafficking Day event was organized by RBC Trust (STOP) at the Tigri community, on the 30th of July, 2024. The primary objective of this event was to educate the public about the stark realities and dangers associated with human trafficking. The event sought to raise awareness by informing the community about the tactics employed by traffickers, recognizing the signs of trafficking, and providing guidance on how individuals can protect themselves and others from falling victim to such exploitation. An audience of around 200 people were warmly welcomed by STOP Team.
STOP had conducted a Spot Test for its students engaged in Indira Lahiri Scholarship Programme in both of its Communities, Tigri and Tughlakabad on the 22nd of March, 2024. The question papers were made in two sets, one catering to the 3rd to 5th, and another for 6th to 8th standards respectively. The ones who came first from both the standards in both the Communities were awarded with a Certificate of Performance by STOP’s Advisor, Retired IAS Officer and Chief Information Commissioner, Sh. Amitava Bhattacharyya.
STOP organized two Roundtable Conferences in the month of March, 2024, on “Developing Action Plans for Inclusion and Economic Empowerment of Women“, on the 13th and 27th of March, respectively. Its partners, hailing from different grassroots level NGOs located in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, came to actively attend and form the Action Plans, on the former and latter aforementioned dates, respectively. In total, around 50 NGOs collaborated with STOP in both these events. The reports are attached in the reports section of this website, and the photos are attached below.
An educational field trip was also planned for increasing the general awareness of about fifty students on the 21st March, 2024. They were assisted by Shirine Marian Tigga, Project Coordinator, Sakshi Gaur, Psychological Counsellor, Mamta Gopal and Gulnuma, Community-in-Charge(s), and all the community teachers of STOP. They went to visit to the National Science Museum and History Museum in New Delhi to hon their skills in both these subjects.
On 8th February 2024, STOP hosted a vibrant cultural event, “Harmony in Diversity: A Cultural Experience,” at the Adarsh Senior Citizen Association, Tigri. The event, held from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM, celebrated India’s rich cultural heritage while promoting unity.
The occasion was graced by esteemed guests, Mr. Amitava Bhattacharyya, Mrs. Ranjana Bhattacharyya, and a police official from Tigri Police Station. After a warm welcome by STOP’s counselling psychologist, Sakshi Gaur, and an inaugural lamp-lighting ceremony, Mr. Bhattacharyya delivered a motivating keynote address. Mrs. Bhattacharyya, accompanied by Mr. Bantu Gonsalves, performed three inspirational melodies, while Tigri Police representative Mr. Ravinder shared vital helpline information.
The event featured captivating folk and classical dance performances from diverse states like Sikkim, Kashmir, Gujarat, and West Bengal. Highlights included a Saraswati Vandana inaugural solo and an exquisite Odissi performance by Adreeja Paul. Additionally, musical performances showcased community talent, encouraging creativity and self-expression. STOP’s commitment to social awareness was evident through impactful Nukkad Nataks addressing drug addiction and cybercrime, sparking meaningful conversations.
The program concluded with a certification ceremony led by the chief guests, recognizing the participants’ efforts.
On 27th of December 2023, Retired IAS Officer, Chief Information Commissioner and currently the Advisor of STOP, Amitava Bhattacharyya Sir, had come on a visit to both the Community Centres of STOP, namely Tigri and Tughlakabad. He honoured our students by giving them winter clothes to be worn in school so that the severe cold of Delhi never stops them to study to fulfill their wishes, missions, passions and goals.
On the 6th of December, 2023, a training in baking was provided to 4 people at the Koshish Kitchen , incubated by STOP, by our Project Coordinator, Shirine Marian Tigga. The duration of the training was 5 hours, as two items were prepared, namely walnut cake and fruit bread. Everyone had a learning experience in understanding time management and technicalities of baking. A positive feedback regarding the softness, fluffiness, flavourful taste of the cake was received by the said members in the Koshish Kitchen.
